The Design Edit: To Chop or Not to Chop?

The Design Edit: To Chop or Not to Chop?

It's the age old question, to chop or not to chop pillows? There's two stereotypes here - The Choppers and The Non-Choppers. The Choppers usually fall in the category of people who love buying matching sets and making sure the duvet at the end of their bed is always fluffed. The Non-Choppers like elegance to come simply and invest in high quality products that look great standing alone without hassle. I'd argue that the Non-Choppers wouldn't dare add a duvet at the end of their bed. Is either way right?

THE CHOPPERS

There's nothing worse than walking into a home and seeing soggy pillows. Soggy pillows? That's right - a pillow that is droopy and doesn't have any life. Could the pillow cover be too big? Could the pillow insert be too small? Both are potentially true, but the likelihood is that the pillow wasn't fluffed or chopped. Chopping a pillow ensures that the pillow was fluffed and poised perfectly into position. It adds an extra joie de vivre in the life of your pillows.

THE NON-CHOPPERS

Throw pillows are meant to be added as statement pieces throughout a home that can stand alone and add a pop of pizzaz on a couch or bench without hassle. If you're constantly tending to your pillows to get them into perfect position, aren't you just a staged home? If you invest in high enough quality pillows, no chopping is needed. Besides, who wants a pillow to look like it has two bunny ears?

As you make your bed or tidy up your living room tomorrow, be sure to ask yourself: To Chop or Not to Chop?
